Come one, come all! Welcome again, and lets enjoy the evening as we announce the winners, and I showcase all contest entries, for the Bu and Nar contest!

In this contest, as some may know, we took the entries and graded them on a 100 point scale, 90 judge points (judged by myself, Neekko, and our guest judge friend, Dinosaurprince!) and a possible 10 bonus points for the poll we started (now closed). We didn’t simply judge on what picture looked better than other, we actually scaled it on what pictures were most creative, did Bu and Nar’s personalities right, and also made good use of the themes! We managed to get six very wonderful images. I love them all. It’s certainly one of the hardest things to say some won and others didn’t. They all win in my book. That sounds cliche, but I mean it. I thank all six of you for taking the effort to draw up Bu and Nar! I hug you! <3

So first… FIRST PLACE!

The big winner, with a total of 87 points! Devilman definitely went above and beyond the call of duty, by not only running a theme of Video Games in such a creative way, but he even made those darned adorable sleeping chibi sleeping OCs down there! I think it’s definitely one of the most innovative ways to treat Bu and Nar. Not only that, but we (as the judges) felt that if Bu and Nar were playing out these Mario and Bower roles, this is how it would look. I dunno about the stuffed princess, but Bu probably didn’t realize the princess was simply in another castle and then he decided this one was good enough! LOL OMG But Bu in overalls? Lets just say Mario is one of the rare few who makes it look good! Haha Well Devilman made it look good, but only because the image itself is so well done! Beautiful, bright colors and nice shading! and now SECOND PLACE!

Going to KGirl, I really really love this picture far too much. This guy here scored a total of 78 points! The big scorer here is likely just how accurate we feel she captured Bu and Nar’s personality. Nar looks just so :| and Bu is very much 8D!! That says pretty much it for who they are. lol “THEY GIVE OUT CANDY!!” Yes, Bu they do. Neekko and I feel that sounds exactly like what Bu would say too. XD Nice topical choice by the way. With just a week before Halloween, this is a fitting concept choice. Cleverly implementing demon (Nar) fairy (Bu… lol wow. Tiara and antennae!) and, of course, holiday! Three of our themes in one image. Bu in a dress frightens me in ALL the right ways. I think my favorite part here though is simply his expression. Ever since I saw a W.I.P. of it, I love that face he is making. Thanks again for entering, KGirl! A much deserved 2nd place grab! <3 This is viewable HERE!

Now that’s all the winners, except due to some freaky happenings, we ended up with a tie for second. With 68 points, plus 10 for bonus points, winning the poll by 52%, we have our 2nd place RUNNER UP!

While we had FAR more votes in the poll than we ever imagined, with a total of 42, Karulox managed to snag 22 of them! That leads him in as the bonus points win! That also makes him run head to head with 2nd place, so needless to say, we made sure he is a winner too! And well deserved! Wonderful color job and such a whacky situation. XD Using mostly the caveman theme, we see here Nar picking out Bu and taking him home. I don’t THINK he hit Bu with his club, but I shouldn’t discount the idea. Being the stone ages, Bu felt clearly no need for pants. LOL The characters are well toned for such cave people! The idea that he is being dragged by his tail is quite clever. Better than using hair like I’ve seen in cartoons. Haha. Thanks Karu! A warm and excellent addition to the contest! <3 Check it out HERE and HERE!

I feel kinda bad we can’t have everyone win. But I am far from not grateful that we have enough entries to make this a full and legit contest. And being a contest, I hope these below artists and entrants know that while they didn’t make a place, they still blew me away and I love them. X3 So here are you guys!

Guytoonist! This one is just so fun, I can’t not show it off! Guytoonist has always tried to make things different than the norm with images I’ve gotten, and seen, from him. This is certainly along those same lines. It’s got a subtle Evil Dead look to it for me. I would say that’s a “duh” since Nar is sporting a hand chainsaw and a certain iconic fleshy book at his belt. XD Bu also is sporting a BFG, if I may call it that. If you don’t know what it is, look it up, and you’ll know what I mean. I think Guy focused on the themes towards Bu and Nar’s zombie foes. As they are football fairy zombies. So that’s sports and fairies. He also applied pornstars to it, as the zombies all look like a particular porn star, I believe. XD So three themes in there! Very nice. I wish this was colored, because I am sure that’d be amazing! But even as a lineart, it gives itself a style that really stands out from the other entries. Here is DarkAndriod‘s piece! This is probably one of the most thought out and innovative ones is this one right here. Super Bu and Nar! This applied not only Superheroes, but also supervillians! Notably some strange bizzaro clone Bu and Nar. There is the huge story that Dark did for this image, and a lot of time clearly went into this image! The effort shows so much. And even an action scene! There is really a lot going on here, to be sure.  The one definite excellent point shown here is the deep background we got here. It’s a city scene, which isn’t easy, that you can be sure. It got done and done well! I highly recommend checking out the post on dA, linked HERE and check out the story that Dark included with this image. That made this image even more special! Thanks so much for entering!! Our last, but certainly not least, entrant!

We have sort of a twist here for the final image. By that I mean three images! This is Zenx007‘s image(s). The true entry is actually the final third image in here, but we had a bit of a process. Zenx had asked us if he could commission someone for an entry. I’d say we were weary on the idea, but since the artist, JY-KO-X, consented to the idea, we were okay with it! I think Zenx did okay though! He did up the middle image, which I think looks great! I don’t see why he couldn’t do something great if he wanted to. But nevertheless, we got JY to draw something up. Though the commission middleman idea may have led to a few character errors. The first image is just a werewolf and female fairy. But then he corrected the issue with JY and we got Werewolf theme vs fairy theme! Bu as a fairy again! Nuuuu! XD Aw well. Still it’s somewhat iffy on character accuracy, though the action in the image is intense! It’s dark and brooding too. JY has a good style like that. Great job from both artist and commissioner! You guys worked together to have a few actually really great images! <3 You can see it HERE!

That, my friends, brings the Bu and Nar contest 2010 to a close. It was scary for both myself and Neekko, since we were not sure how well it went, but you six up there simply delivered! We are more than happy. We hope you are too. The results are wonderful, all of them. I love ya and hope we can do more Bu and Nar stuff independently someday! I need to comment on all the images. You’ll see me soon. >:3 The winners shall hear from us soon as well.
