Hello friends! July is in full swing and it’s now time for a new Bu Blog entry. As I promised in the last blog entry, this is my post-Anthrocon post. It has already been one week since the convention and I better present the new set of commissions I bought at the time. It went by so quickly but I came out with a few really great items! Let us begin…
First thing I received that weekend was a lil pic from Shenanigan!
This was a pleasant surprise from Shen. <3 More than anything this image represents the first time I got to meet her in person and this was a gift that I definitely didn’t deserve. ;3; Bu is rocking a sort of orc-ish vibe here with the glowy orange eyes, protruding jaw, and adorable lower tooth! I also enjoy the ear there if I had to really examine the finer details. The best thing about traditional media like this pic is admiring the details of the lines and colors that you cannot get from digital images. Even scanned on the computer like this, you cannot see all those little details. Still I hope you can still find the beauty in Shen‘s lil gift to me. x3
The next image I got was a sketch from Cooner!
This would make my third sketch commission from Cooner at Anthrocon. I missed my chance for one last year so I made sure to get one this year! I will be the first person to admit that I often draw total blanks when I need to scheme up commission ideas. This is extra true during conventions because the commissions themselves are very spur of the moment. I knew to take advantage of Cooner‘s mix of fun-loving cartoonish vibe and wonderful muscles! Of course Bu is floating in a giant pool of donuts… on a giant donut… eating a donut. <3 Cooner gave Bu that EPIC CHIN. It gives Bu some extra handsome points, right? Big thanks to Cooner for another fantastic commish! Hopefully there’ll be more in future conventions. :D
My next commission was a badge I got from the artist, Andy Runton!
Well I sure am a sucker for an adorable image of Bu. x3 The Owly artist has been attending Anthrocon for a handful of years now and I meant to give commissioning a shot for a couple of those years now. I finally decidied to give it a shot and I am very happy with the results! It was a surprisingly natural look for ol’ Bu. Mr. Runton‘s style merges well with Bu’s light-hearted attitude. Since he is so happy-go-lucky then this new badge I got is a fine example of Bu’s personality. <3 I especially love how the wings almost wrap around him. Lots of love for Owly-Style Bu from Mr. Runton here. :3 Thanks so much for this wonderful opportunity!
My last commission at AC this year was from BGN!
This is last but certainly far from least from ol’ BGN. With him offering commissions at his dealer’s table at his second Anthrocon, I had to be sure to be a customer! The theme? King Bu! Royalty to the maximum. As with a lot of my favorite artists, BGN was able to add details that I didn’t even visualize. I love the tall throne (Bu thinks it should be taller, I am sure. Reaching the moon!) and the royal robes. <3 Bu’s also sporting his royal smirk. He know’s he’s the king, babeh. >:3 lol, I have a lot of fun with this one because I can’t think of a worse king than Bu. Power and responsibility don’t mix well with him, I’d say. All the pizza to King Bu, he says! The country goes bankrupt from the pizza debt that accumulates… Anywaaaays… lol. That’s my commission! Thanks to BGN for another awesome sketch. <3
That just about sums up my 2014 Anthrocon adventure (in terms of commissions at least, I had plenty of fun taking photos and helping sell cute charms, etc). I am happy with every single picture and I give endless love to all those wonderful artists! I’m sure next year’s Anthrocon will be a real treat. I just gotta make sure to plan for lots more Bu! Stay tuned next time, I got a lot of recent Bu art to get on this site! Hoping to get another entry or two in this month maybe? Anyways, thanks for stopping by again!
